John Deere, the iconic tractor maker, will be the official equipment sponsor of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
Organizers of the Games announced Friday that the company will provide the games' grounds-care equipment, some of which will remain at Kentucky Horse Park after the Games end in October 2010.
John Deere also will be the title sponsor of the reining competition during the games, said Terry Johnson, vice president of sales for the games. |

Hong Kong, Back out of retirement for the Beijing Olympics at the age of 52, New Zealand rider Mark Todd is already contemplating a crack at the London Games in 2012. "Age is just a number," one of the greatest riders in the history of three-day eventing stated. "I think I can get back and be competitive at the top level. I have enjoyed it."
Todd, an individual gold medallist at the 1984 and 1988 Games, may be languishing in 29th place in Hong Kong after the cross-country stage of the event but the fire is back in his belly. "I didn't feel old, I didn't feel stiff. I felt just as I did in the past. It was really good," said the tall, lithe rider, back from retirement after eight years and buzzing once more with the adrenaline of competition. Its just possible a return to Kentucky for the World Equestrian Games in 2010 is something Todd will look forward to doing as well.
Already new targets are appearing up on the horizon. "I would like to go to the World Championships in Kentucky in 2010. That is where I started my international career back in 1978." Next stop after that could be London. "It is certainly a possibility," he said. "I shall have to sit down and discuss it with my wife."

When the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games take place at the Kentucky Horse Park in 2010, horses and riders will compete on a new state-of-the-art surface that is being installed by the German company that developed it.
The Outdoor Stadium, which is currently under construction at the Kentucky Horse Park, will be ready to receive its new surface in January or February 2009.
Otto Sport– und Reitplatz GmbH is the developer and supplier of this 86,000-square-foot stadium surface, as well as two warm-up ring surfaces totaling 43,000 square feet. The surface for the adjacent Walnut Ring and its warm-up ring totaling nearly 90,000 square feet will be installed at the park this month. |

 A specialty Kentucky license plate may soon be available in celebration of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
In order for these plates to be produced, at least 900 applications and deposits must be submitted to the World Games 2010 Foundation. If 900 applications are not received by September 30, 2008, all applications and fees will be returned. |

The biggest event ever scheduled to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park -- the World Equestrian Games -- will end its 16 day run on Oct. 10, 2010. But the following day is the day that the park's executive director says will mark "the new beginning of the Kentucky Horse Park." That's because all the development and building projects completed in preparation the games will help make large events successful at the park for years to come, Kentucky Horse Park Executive Director John Nicholson told lawmakers on the Appropriations and Revenue Committee Sunday during the panel's meeting in Lexington. |
